Learning & Development
Kibble has long recognised that the complex needs of the young people in our care demand a skilled and qualified workforce. We place strong emphasis on our comprehensive learning and development programme; a strength based system which prides itself in threading the connections between learning and practice.
With over 600 staff, as an enterprising third sector organisation delivering highly specialised services, it is essential that Kibble maintains a cycle of continuous improvement in all areas of operation. The key to the success of our training programme lies in recognising the importance of strong relationships embedded in the core of our work. Sharing experiences as reflective practitioners, participating in outreach work and speaking at conferences all help to build connections and widen our expertise. The learning and development team is continually reflecting on and enhancing the process of practice development, which ultimately has a positive effect on outcomes for young people at Kibble.
The National Residential Child Care Initiative has identified the need for all residential child and youth care staff to be qualified to degree level or equivalent. In preparation, to meet this aspiration, we have expanded our professional development programme to include accredited university level modules. These are closely connected to prior learning, allowing staff to take manageable steps towards a University Degree. Kibble has a clear responsibility to respond to the increasingly complex needs of the young people with whom we work. A crucial part of this is supporting and encouraging the aims and aspirations of our staff group.
Recognition and Awards
Our Learning and Development team picked up the Best eLearning Module Design at the Charities Learning Consortium Conference and Awards in London in November 2016. It was the virtual tour, which sits in the online induction pack on KOOL, our online staff training portal, which won gold!
In June 2017, the team also just won a SIRCC award in the Learning Leaders category showing our commitment to working with care experienced young people.
