Modern Apprenticeship in Social Services (Children and Young People)

An exciting opportunity to earn while working towards an SVQ level 3 in Social Services: Children and Young People. You’ll spend your week at our Puddle Lane children’s nursery in Hillington surrounded by friendly colleagues who will support you throughout your learning journey.

Kibble set-up its own Early Learning and Childcare Centre originally to provide affordable childcare for the staff team and have since expanded to welcome 0-5-year-olds from across Renfrewshire and Glasgow. Now, it is one of the largest children’s nurseries with indoor and outdoor play areas.

Graduate Apprenticeship (BA in Early Learning and Childcare)

You can help young children thrive by encouraging them to learn through play while completing further education yourself to achieve a BA in Early Learning and Childcare. Throughout the week, you’ll be based at Puddle Lane children’s nursery in Hillington with one day spent at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).

Can I apply for Kibble’s Career Start Modern Apprenticeship Programme?

Yes, if you have an interest for working with young children, believe your practical skills are exceptional and would like to gain an official academic qualification. With the Modern Apprenticeship, you learn through the completion of the work-based SVQ.

What is the difference between the Modern Apprenticeship and the Graduate Apprenticeship?

Through the Modern Apprenticeship, you will gain an SVQ level 3 in Social Services: Children and Young People and complete your studies internally at Kibble; whereas the Graduate Apprenticeship involves attending the University of the West of Scotland usually once a week to achieve a BA in Early Learning and Childcare.

The Modern Apprenticeship SVQ is a work-based qualification and is an accreditation to guarantee you meet the national standards in the sector; and the Graduate Apprenticeship is a Bachelor of Arts undergraduate university degree.

Should I apply for the Modern Apprenticeship or Graduate Apprenticeship?

The Modern Apprenticeship could be described at more practical-based and you must have the enthusiasm to learn through the SVQ coursework.

For the Graduate Apprenticeship, commitment is required to attend and complete a university degree. You have to be prepared to consider the expectations and of the team at Puddle Lane as well as the requirements set by the university. Good time-management skills are essential.

Many of the young people we care for have experienced trauma or adversity in their lives. We give them consistent love and care, an inspiring education, and the therapeutic supports to help them achieve their best.

In addition to our specialist services including residential children’s houses, primary and secondary schools, fostering and community-based services and more, Kibble opened Puddle Lane Early Learning and Childcare Centre. Staff’s families and friends and all from Renfrewshire, Glasgow and the surrounding area can enrol within our quality children’s nursery based in Hillington, Glasgow.

Kibble supports children and young people across the UK with services located across the West of Scotland including our Paisley campus, Hillington, Hamilton, Largs, Lochwinnoch, Inverkip and Glasgow.

Kibble’s opened Puddle Lane Early Learning and Childcare Centre to provide high-quality, affordable childcare to the wider community. Puddle Lane draws on Kibble’s 160 years of experience in childcare, education and business to bring an exceptional childcare service that operates as a social enterprise whereby all Puddle Lane’s profits are re-invested into the nursery itself.
