Working across Kibble’s residential children’s houses, Night Service Child and Youth Care Workers play an important role in providing reassurance while young people sleep, settle into their evening routine or need extra support throughout the night.
Your job is about much more than being there overnight, it is about helping young people feel safe enough to rest. Some young people may struggle to sleep, feel anxious when the house becomes quiet, need emotional reassurance or require support during a difficult moment. Some nights may follow a steady routine, while others can change quickly. Whatever happens, your presence matters.

FAQs about Becoming a Night Service Child and Youth Care Worker
What hours will I work in my nightshift job at Kibble?
The role is 37 hours per week in a waking night position, with shifts running from 10pm until 7.45am.
You will work either Sunday to Tuesday or Wednesday to Friday, with every second Saturday. Shift patterns swap annually in January.
What qualifications and experience do I need?
We encourage you to apply if you have the right values and motivation to support others. An HNC in Social Care, SVQ Level 3 in Care or an equivalent qualification is welcomed, but it is not essential. If you do not yet have these qualifications, we can support you to work towards them.
What kind of person suits this role?
This role suits someone who is calm, reliable, empathetic and able to build positive relationships with young people.
You should be confident working as part of a team, able to use your own initiative and committed to treating every young person with dignity and respect.
