Head of Service: David Baird
We have become acutely aware that we are likely to greatly improve the outcomes for young people transitioning from Kibble back into the community if we have a better and longer support service in place.
This is arranged on an individual basis with the placing authority and clearly Kibble would only be one element of that support package. We now have families within our fostering service who are registered to offer young adult placements, and are considering recruiting families who can do so as a stand alone service away from our fostering service. These young adults can be placed with these families from the age of 16 onwards. The placement with the family may also be supplemented with a placement in our youth training services, should this be appropriate for the young adult.
Young adults may transition out of these placements into their own tenancies - please see information about our throughcare services.
All young people who are placed in Kibble are supported by our Specialist Intervention Services. The team has over 10 years experience of providing evidence based psychological consultation, assessment and interventions for young people with complex and challenging needs.
