To foster with Kibble means you become part of a supportive fostering family. As one of Scotland’s oldest charities, Kibble has been supporting children and young people for over 160 years. To foster with Kibble, you can expect:

  • Generous fostering fees and allowances
  • 24/7 support
  • Full training and qualifications
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Dedicated key worker

Round the Clock Support

Our fostering service is recognised for offering some of the highest levels of support to children, young people and foster carers across the sector. Our team is available round the clock to provide guidance and support when needed, and each young person has a dedicated key worker who is there to support young people and foster families.

Full Training and Qualifications

We provide a comprehensive training programme to ensure you are fully skilled and confident in your role as a foster carer. All full-time foster carers must complete the following mandatory courses:

  • HNC Social Services
  • SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People)

These qualifications are certified by the Scottish Qualifications Authority and delivered by Kibble trainers and external assessors at our main campus in Paisley. Foster carers also receive ongoing training led by our in-house learning and development team.

Generous Fees and Allowances

As a foster carer with Kibble, you can expect generous fees and allowances to ensure you can best support a child or young person in your care whilst ensuring you are able to meet your financial commitments.

Fostering fees may vary depending on your skills and qualifications, however full-time foster carers can receive a professional fee of up to £35,000 per annum, along with an additional payment of up to £15,000 which is tax free, for age related allowances, to meet the costs of caring for the child or young person in their care.

Full-time planned short break carers receive approximately £26,000 per annum, along with any allowances as above for children in their care.

When choosing a fostering provider, Kibble stood out above everyone else due to the level of training and support they provide. We get the support we need and they are only ever a phone call away. It’s good to know someone is there with you, and able to reassure you that you’re doing a great job. Things like that are totally invaluable.
