What did you do before Kibble?
Before Kibble I was a worldwide chef working in London, Dubai and South Africa. I worked in 5-star hotels including Skelbo Castle.
How long have you worked at Kibble?
I have worked at Kibble for almost 10 years.
What made you want to work for Kibble?
The job vacancy at Kibble looked like a great career opportunity as my priorities changed with the birth of my daughter. I was keen to share my experience with young people and help them develop a career in catering.
Can you give us an overview of your role at Kibble and what area you work in?
I oversee catering for all of Kibble and manage the cooking staff across the various sites on and off campus. We are pioneering and prioritising healthy living by making sure young people in our care eat healthy and well-balanced meals.
What is the best thing about working in Kibble/tell us one thing you love about your job?
Personally, the best thing about working at Kibble is sharing my knowledge with the young people and providing them with a potential career opportunity. I tell the young people that there is not much difference between us, except that I learned to cook, and it has taken me all around the world. I try to motivate them into enjoying cooking.
Can you share a defining moment or a story about your time at Kibble?
A defining moment for me was having a young person ask how to make baby food, as their girlfriend was pregnant. At Kibble, the little things amount to defining moments. By gradually teaching young people about food and cooking their attitudes to food changes for the better.
What advice would you give someone thinking of joining at Kibble?
You can make a difference! Come with a positive attitude and support the young people in becoming more optimistic.
