Having achieved Investors in People status in 1999 and re-accreditation in 2002, and SQMS in 2000, with re-accreditation in 2001 and 2002, Kibble has tangible proof of its investment in staff training and development. We are committed to the principles of Continuous Professional Development, believing it is important for all staff to continue to grow and learn throughout their careers.
All staff are subject to an annual Personal Development Review, which focuses not only on their practice, but also on their personal development needs. These are matched to the strategic aims of the organisation to ensure Kibble is committed to an ongoing programme of improving the service delivery to the young people with whom we work.
Kibble strives to achieve not only the minimum national standards required in relation to staff qualifications, but to look beyond this to having the care staff fully qualified. We understand the primary importance of appointing the right people and recruit staff who if they are not already qualified, will be encouraged and supported to achieving the qualifications relevant to the post to which they are appointed.
Best practice ideas are shared both nationally and internationally.— Kibble
In adopting a succession policy throughout all staff groups within the organisation, Kibble hopes to show the commitment to staff in the organisation that may be future candidates for full time vacancies as they occur, and promotion when the opportunity arises. This does not preclude external appointments but encourages “home grown talent”.
It is our intention to be at the forefront of current developments in Information Technology, which can assist access in training, and integrate theory and practice thus enhancing the learning practice. We are looking to develop training in VQ's on line, and cd-roms, which offer interactive opportunities and will be piloted by Kibble staff before being offered to the wider social care sector.
The UKCCPD has been contracted in recent years to help undertake VQ and Managerial training. Staff help deliver training in house in a variety of areas: - Induction, SCM, ECDL, team-training days etc. This also extends to training outside groups in some of these areas.
Best practice ideas are shared both nationally and internationally. Partnerships with organisations such as Euroarc have helped establish Kibble's reputation as an organisation committed to sharing and developing ideas and practice in child and youth care. A wide range of staff and young people participate in international conferences with organisations involved in childcare based in countries all over the world.
