Intensive Fostering

Head of Service: Graham Bell

Fostering When foster care is the best alternative to living with family, our fostering services provide homes for children and young people, supporting both the children and the carer in this placement.

Our Services

We offer three main services:

Arran Villa Care Home – a residential care home for up to five children (aged 5-12). Arran Villa provides dedicated care and support, until such times as the children are ready to move into full-time foster care.

Intensive Fostering Services (IFS) – a fostering service for children and young people (aged 5-21) that offers real continuity of care afforded by our integrated services and high staff to young person ratios.

Adult Placement Services (APS) – we offer young people (aged 16-25) the continued support of a family home when they aren’t ready to be fully independent.

Kibble’s fostering services have an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care, offering stability and security to some of the most complex children and young people in Scotland. This is reflected in our recent inspections reports:

Why They Work

Young people benefit from aspects of our service that other foster agencies can’t provide:

Everything in one place – children and young people get real continuity of care as we offer a range of services right here. They can attend Kibble’s primary or secondary school or be supported in a mainstream school. They can have their health needs looked after by our specialist LAAC Nurse and be supported by our Specialist Intervention Services team.

Quality of care – children and young people placed here feel the benefit of foster carers who receive high levels of training and support.  We also employ a team of dedicated child and youth workers to provide our young people with enhanced levels of support and opportunities to relax and have fun which contributes to the sustainability of placements.

A community environment – our small group of young people, staff and carers all know each other and have regular opportunities to meet, catch up and support each other formally and – just as importantly – informally.

At Kibble, we know that offering this support to young people is a vital part of the picture, but it’s not the whole picture. To secure placements that will be rewarding and sustainable for everyone involved, we offer an unparalleled level of support to our carers as well.

This includes committing to:

Their career development – carers will attain an SVQ3 and HNC in Social Care as a foundation to their continuing professional development and they’ll receive frequent opportunities to increase their knowledge and training.

The highest levels of support – through sustained support from Kibble staff, peer networks and 24/7 support, foster carers receive an unparalleled level of assistance .

Fees and allowances – we offer fees and allowances that recognise the professional and personal commitment that our carers are making.

Ever considered being a foster carer?

There are lots of children waiting to find a caring, family home and we are always looking for carers to join our fostering family!
