Ethics Committee

Our Ethics Committee was established in autumn 2010.  Its role and purpose are to ensure that all research is carried out in an ethical manner.  Ethical approval by Kibble’s Ethics Committee is required in addition to any other external ethical approval, e.g. by a university or other educational establishment or organisation, therefore, research cannot proceed until ethical approval has been granted.  This is in the interest of protecting young people, researchers and staff during research processes.  Applications for ethical approval must be received by the committee at least one month prior to committee meetings; this is to ensure that committee members have adequate time to review applications before discussing and considering them at committee meetings.  It also allows time to invite an appropriate specialist to the committee meeting, if members feel that specialist input would be helpful in reaching a decision.
