PUPILS and staff at Paisley’s Kibble education and care centre washed cars, played beat the goalie, held a sale of donated goods and even went busking to raise money for victims of the Asian tsunami disaster.
Their fundraising exploits of staff and boys held on campus meant that £1000 was raised, which will be sent to the national Tsunami Appeal.
One of the pupils who helped organise the fund-raising activities was 13-year-old Michael Etchels. He said: “After seeing the pictures on television I felt bad for the people who had lost everything and just wanted to help.”
Laura Cairns, a personal social development teacher at Kibble added: “This was not only a very worthwhile cause for our pupils to support, but it also was an ideal opportunity for the boys to contribute towards their Social and Vocational Skills Standard Grade.
Kibble chief executive Graham Bell added: “The staff and pupils did us proud with their efforts.
“They came up with some great ways of raising cash for the disaster appeal including selling items the boys had made in their woodwork class and another of the lads who went busking around campus to raise money.”
