We received this year’s UK Young Social Enterprise Award at an awards ceremony, in London, on Thursday, November 17.
It’s the second year running Kibble has won a UK national award as, in 2004 it was named Upstarts UK Social Enterprise of the Year.
This year’s accolade is part of the Social Enterprise Coalition’s Enterprising Solutions 2005 Awards to celebrate the best in community and social businesses.
Jonathan Bland, chief executive of the Social Enterprise Coalition said: “Social enterprises are making a real difference in every part of the country as these awards show.
“We want to encourage more fantastic businesses that take a truly entrepreneurial approach to social and environmental problems. Kibble is an exemplar of the way in which social enterprises can offer a real alternative to state or private sector delivery.”
The £5000 prize money for the Young Social Enterprise Award will be invested in Kibble’s social enterprise activities giving training and work experience to care leavers.
