Boys from Kibble were really on the ball this year and they have the trophies to prove it. They’re champions in the Small Schools League for players aged 12 to 16, they also won the League Cup and an Under 16s Five-a-Side Tournament.
The team had such a successful season that every one of the lads were presented with their own trophy in recognition of their efforts by Kilmarnock goalkeeper, Alan Combe.
And awards were also handed over to top goalscorer, Chris Marshall who netted 16 times; Michael Rielly for being the most improved player; Darren Kennedy for being Manager’s Player of the Year and Ryan Dawson who was the Player’s Player of the Year.
Former professional footballer and now goalkeeper coach, John Hillcoat is a PE teacher at Kibble. He helps run the team with fellow PE teacher, Danny McMichael and said: “The boys had a tremendous season and deserve all the accolades they’ve been getting for their efforts. “Playing in the school football team teaches them self-discipline and teamwork which is very important. “There’s no doubt the boys have developed and benefited by playing in the team. They have done themselves proud and it’s been brilliant working with them.”
