The memory of a former instructor at Paisley’s Kibble care and education centre is to live on.
For a newly-refurbished wing of a residential unit there has been named after Bob Buchanan who died last year of a heart attack aged 55.
Bob not only worked at Kibble as a painting and decorating instructor for 15 years, but also lived in the part of the unit that has been renovated.
Now the Buchanan Unit will be home to three boys at Kibble.
Graham Bell, Kibble’s chief executive said: “That part of Kibble was always known by staff as Bob’s House and we thought it would be a fitting tribute to Bob to name the refurbished unit after him.
“Bob was a genuinely caring person and teaching the boys was always more than just a job to him.
“He taught the boys many practical life skills and always spoke about and encouraged them to like the outdoors.” Bob’s partner Susan Baird said: “That part of the unit was a staff house and I have a lot of happy memories living there.
“I was really touched when Kibble asked if they could name the unit after Bob. He would have been surprised, but quite proud.”
Susan came back to the unit for the official opening and said: “It was quite emotional for me to be back there.
It looks like a good job has been done for the pupils who will live there. “I would like to thank the people at Kibble – it really is an honour and I am delighted.”
