What services does this enterprise have to offer and who are the customers?

MowerWorks carries out all aspects of repair and service to grass cutting machinery.

OfficeWorks, A Kibble enterprise

The service is aimed at members of the public in and around Renfrewshire, including landscape businesses and local authorities. Each job is individually assessed and priced.

What activities and tasks will the young person perform?

The young person will gain basic 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine knowledge including how to fault find, repair and service grass cutting machinery and the importance of maintaining them regularly. They will also learn how to safely perform routine sharpening of blades and tools.

What transferable skills will the young person take from this role?

The young person will understand the importance of grass cutting machinery maintenance and repair, and will have developed the skills and confidence to move on to a local firm or organisation with the understanding of how a garden machinery workshop operates on a day to day basis. They will also gain skills in using hand and electrical tools, pricing a range of jobs, timekeeping and customer service skills.

What is your background?

I have over 30 years experience in garden machinery repair, servicing, grinding, welding and fabrication. I have extensive experience in working with young adults through 15 years of coaching youth football and 7 years refereeing youth football.
