What services does this enterprise have to offer and who are the customers?

MetalWorks will offer the manufacturing and repair of gates, fences, railings and garden furniture as well as household items such as candlesticks, mirrors and fireguards.

The targeted client group will include small development contracts and private sales within the surrounding area.

What activities and tasks will the young person perform?

The young person will perform basic fabrication tasks including tack welding, preparing steel using bench and angle grinders and measuring and laying out of steel, with the aim of progressing to full welding and manufacture.

What transferable skills will the young person take from this role?

The young person will gain a basic understanding of fabrication and welding, allowing easier progression to a modern apprenticeship. The young person will cater to clients' needs, have good time management and customer care skills.

What qualifications can they work towards?

What is your background?

I have completed fifteen years of steel fabrication- time served and qualified. I have worked all over the country on a range of fabrication jobs and am also degree qualified in computer network engineering.
