

Groundbreakers offers all aspects of horticultural work from garden maintenance to soft and hard landscaping.
The client group will be made up from work on the Kibble campus, internal staff and also to members of the public.
The young person will learn all aspects of working in a horticultural environment including daily maintenance, general garden work, turfing, pruning, planting and identification of plants, basic machine maintenance and measuring and costing materials. The young person will further develop skills in hard landscaping, consisting of slabbing, use of chipped decorative stones and fencing.
The young person will gain a number of new skills and knowledge relating to horticulture. In addition they will have an understanding of work ethics, time management and the importance of attendance and punctuality in a work environment. New skills will also bring added confidence and boost the young person's self esteem. Working in horticulture will also give them a sense of the rewards of putting in time and effort to finish a project.
I have worked for over 19 years as a gardener within a local authority and have spent the last two years working in the residential units at Kibble. I entered Kibble through the Men Can Care project and am dual qualified as both a horticulturalist and as part of Kibble's care staff.
