Knibbles is a catering business, which serves a selection of hot and cold lunches to KibbleWorks staff group and visitors, as well as tendering for public functions in which cold buffets are prepared and delivered to customers, ranging from social enterprises, to charities and the public.
The buffets are priced per head and there are a number of menu options.
The young person works alongside the chef to learn all aspects of working in a kitchen environment, from day-to-day general cleanliness of the kitchen to preparing full meals and assisting with the external catering contracts. It is intended that the young person will eventually take sole responsibility for preparing external buffets, from preparation to presentation.
The young person will be able to work in a fully functional kitchen and have a range of practical skills to take to his next job, including food preparation, service delivery, kitchen cleaning and maintenance. He will also benefit from a number of soft skills including time management, customer service, team work, and working under pressure.
I started my career working in hotel kitchens and have worked my way from the bottom up to the position I am in today. I joined Kibble in 2001 and am qualified in the SVQ 1 and 2 equivalents in Catering for the Industry and have passed SVQ 3 in hospitality.
