World leader in child psychiatry Dr Bruce Perry M.D., PhD presented on his research and shared insights into how trauma affects children.
What can traumatised children teach us about love, loss and healing? Dr Perry, Senior Fellow at the Child Trauma Academy, counsellor to survivors of the Waco siege and author of 'The Boy Who Was Raised As A Dog' at a special conference on child trauma.
“What a wonderful day. I could have listened to Bruce long into the night. I have heard similar material re the brain patterning etc before, but not in such a way that it made so much sense. Felt very inspired afterwards and confident to some extent that we are approaching our work in the right way.
I think I would have liked to hear more about the methods the organisation uses post assessment. The ‘how to’ stuff. I think Bruce was getting there but another day would probably help. Saying that I would gladly pay to hear Bruce speak again!”
“I very much enjoyed the event as did my colleagues. It's unusual to leave training feeling that you wanted more of the same. It was all very interesting and if any similar events are run in future, we would definitely consider attending.”
“It was a brilliant presentation of complex information in an easy to follow, well illustrated and entertaining way. His work is incredibly important.”
“The material was excellent and well presented. All facilities were of a high standard. It was an excellent learning and networking opportunity and afforded us vital insights into our attachment disordered young people.”
