Mossedge North Unit is a mainstream unit within Kibble, offering support to nine young males, ages between twelve and sixteen. They can accommodate the young people staying longer if more time is needed to arrange employment or through care resources.
Young people accommodated in North Unit present a wide range of needs; emotional, behavioural family breakdown .. social/interactive skills. The one thing our residents have in common is a need for stability in their lives. We attempt to put that stability back by offering a placement which respects the young people, and offer appropriate support and guidance to best effect change.
North provides a safe and comfortable environment and challenges negative behaviour.
North Unit works on a key worker/co key worker basis, allowing identified staff to agree on a positive care plan for the young person. The key workers also act as the main link to parents carers, families and other agencies.
Care plans are tailored specifically to the individual and are designed to best meet their needs. The Staff in North Unit help their young residents through a variety of issues. Key workers have regular meetings with their assigned resident to discuss any arising issues, discuss progress and encourage ongoing development, as well as encouraging visits and liaisons with 'Who cares' and children's rights workers.
The Staff in North Unit understand the importance of environment, and the messages which can be sent by the appearance of the unit. The unit is maintained to a high standard.
Young people each have a single room with wash hand basin. Our Staff ensure that standards within the unit are maintained by sharing chores between residents and staff. Each has responsibility for the upkeep of the unit.
Staff spend great amounts of time ensuring North is a comfortable place to live. We have regular group holidays, camps and outings to keep young people stimulated, as well as satellite TV, pool and computing facilities.
Our staff members are highly committed to working with the young people, and are either professionally qualified or in training.
We feel that North Unit offers young people a chance to achieve their full potential, and be part of a positive experience within Kibble.
