What services does this enterprise have to offer and who are the customers?

The Pack-It model is essentially a customising logistics service provider, offering business-to-business and business to customer services.

The core Pack-It activities are:-

Pack-It’s core business is addressing the outsourcing needs of companies who traditionally held stocks in house and were engaged in internal arrangements for mail marketing. As more companies have developed “lean” systems the demand for outsourced warehousing distribution fulfilment has grown.

What activities and tasks will the young person perform?

The young person will perform a range of functions within the remit of fullfilment and distribution. This includes collating information for conference packs, making up visitor 'goody bags', printing and sorting training materials, binding documents, labelling, packing and posting various materials such as newsletters and periodicals.

What transferable skills will the young person take from this role?

The young person should be able to work in an open, busy office environment. They will gain a basic knowledge of our mailing system and the use of the franking equipment. They will gain experience of working as part of a team and organisational skills. They will also learn the importance of working to deadlines and time management.

What is your background?

I worked in further education as a course co-ordinator for 10 years before joining the voluntary sector. I came to Kibble to work on the Training Connections ESF funded project before moving to Youth Enterprise to work with the staff and young people.
